UPA government making a mockery of governance

“No failure, soft targets attacked”, so says Chidambaram. Lets then wait for hard targets to be attacked perhaps, then PC will provide security or else go to the people and confess that intelligence has failed or it is systems failure or human error-‘we are sorry this will not happen again’. This is what he stated after the 26/11 blasts. Words and words and words-vocabulary comes to his rescue but does not provide security to the people. If intelligence did not fail then what failed? If the UPA government did have the inputs and knew that terror would strike at Pune then why was it not prevented? For Rahul Gandhi the whole police force was provided so he could skip, hop and jump from one place to another and draw money from an ATM and he along with the media can boost how the threats of the Sena was defied! Rahul Gandhi can pull up his collar to say that there were hardly a handful of sainiks with black flags. The wall of security would have blocked his view, thousands of sainiks were chased arrested and prevented from staging any democratic protests.
The terror attack in Pune calls the bluff and exposes the double standards of the State government and the Congress led UPA.at the Centre.
Look at the cheek of the Congress to say, ‘nobody should try to play politics with people’s misery. The country should face the challenge of terror unitedly’. See the audacity and unreasonableness and the deception.-this is the game play of the Congress spokesmen/women. Should one play politics then with the abundance and joy of the people? Who is responsible for the misery of the people? What the Opposition is attacking is not the misery but the CAUSE of the misery-the utter failure of the UPA to prevent that misery. What unity does it want when the country almost beckons to the terror attacks and attackers are not put on the run, but red carpet is provided for them? Shame on Mrs Sonia, Manmohan Singh,Chidambaram and Rahul Gandhi-the fountain head of youth Power
The PM has come out with his studied reaction-he wants speedy probe and investigation so that ‘the culprits responsible for this heinous act are identified and brought to justice at the earliest’ Mr Prime Minister what do you mean by bringing then to justice? Why a speedy probe to identify the culprits. We have enough culprits identified and are accused and in jail where is the Justice you talk of? We have Afzal Guru, Kasab and 21 Indian Mujahideen in jails for ‘heinous acts’. And you are providing them with security and the best treatment at the cost of the people’s hard earned money. Where is this justice you are now talking of? Is that not a betrayal? If the investigation is done the culprits can easy deny or withdraw their statements later. This is the result of your withdrawing of POTA. Why make the cops run in a wild goose chase? Why harass the innocent youth which may give you sleepless nights? Why should the cops at the end find that they only draw the ire of you and your government? Why waste their time and energy for nothing? The UPA government is playing with people and their lives and cautions the Opposition not to play politics out of the misery of the people. The UPA government inflicts the misery-it is the cause of the misery. For heavens sake do not probe terror attacks. What has happened has happened-the dead will not resurrect with a few candles lit. The government will give a few lakhs as compensation and let’s wait for the next attack-hard and soft .Intelligence will not fail so PC will have the information but will not act because the UPA government follows an appeasement policy. It will only make promises; sound byte of hollow words .It will not act. We have India’s icons like Shah Rukh Khan, Rahul Gandhi-the Youth leader (does not matter if he is 40)we have the media ,we have the Congress talking brigade, who will proclaim from within the power echelons in which they are cocooned and well protected that terror knows no religion. So where do we poor people with some common sense stand? We are communalists and they the great secularists. The communalization of the polity initiated by the Congress has been completed by it well entrenched. Every action/inaction of its is communal to the core.
If terror has no religion then why investigate the Indian Mujahideen-the resurrected face of the banned SIMI? Why should the police face their bullets and like the hero Sharma in the Batla shoot out and then purposely raise doubts that it could be a faked encounter? Let Digvijay Singh visit Pune and pontificate his theory. Minorities count as vote banks so don’t touch them. Start another department to automatically push them below the PL-Keep repeating with and without commissions that the Muslims are in the periphery of the economy. But don’t recount to the people how this minority community has a Vice President, Cabinet ministers, Chief Ministers, Cabinet Secretary, DIGs, Judges, industrialists and of course the Khans of Bollyhood. The majority is being told that the Muslims have been pushed to the periphery of the economy Let them beat their chests and cry mea culpa, mea culpa, mea mazima culpa. So our PM is justified in stating that they are the first claimants to the fruits of development and the rest must be pushed to the periphery-This is Manmohanomics
‘The country should face the challenge of terror unitedly’, are the bold words uttered by a cowardly Congress Does that mean when Pakistan allows its territory for terrorists we show open talks with them. Then call the Opposition also and take an all party group for talks and to exchange dossiers. Can terror and talks co-exist? What a farce. Does it mean that when the UPA government is not capable or does not want to bring to justice the culprits already in jail we should stand unitedly-to allow more and more misery to be inflicted on the people?
High time the UPA shed its appeasement policy and put the country first-its security first and the lives of the people first. Make the terrorists realize that the UPA means business not appeasement. The banned SIMI has accused the army of killing Muslims in Kashmir and of harassing them. But are there non Muslims in Kashmir? Were the Kashmiri Pandits not driven away? The same SIMI is today Indian Mujahideen and 21 of then are in jails.
The soft policy shown to the terrorists has made India a soft target. It seems that being a terrorists pays. The appeasement policy only indicates that the UPA is wary to take any action against Muslim terrorists. Result of a vote bank policy mania. Why has the government not the courage and the Justice to sent the army into POK and demolish the training camps there? After all POK is Indian Territory. Otherwise it will amount to the UPA abetting terrorism by allowing its territory to be used as training camps. Instead the UPA government is rolling out a red carpet for the terrorists, appealing to them to return, promising them to be rehabilitated and assuring them of employment etc. It seems that the guilty will be rewarded. What gutless, spineless, rudderless government we have, and what is it doing with the army? Unless and until those involved and accused are brought to justice please lets not waste people’s money and time to probe further and make a big farce of an investigation to deceive people. Nothing will come out of it for the simple reason that this UPA government under Sonia Gandhi and Manmohan Singh will not have the guts to bring to justice a single Muslim. With such a mentality the people need to suffer and face terror attacks-weep for their beloved dead, see the soil bloodied with the blood of the innocent weep till their eyes are dry, and carry on with their hearts heavy with sorrow …Let the UPA have at least the decency not to put up a drama and make governance a mockery. This is the fate of my people as long as we have a UPA government at the helm of affairs

The soldier and the celebrity

Feb 15, 2010

When the butchers were killing our sons guarding the frontiers at minus twenty degree centigrade, we were clamoring to play cricket with the killers
and announcing as the third rate liars that the ancestors we feel proud about came from Pakistan.

The soldier and the celebrity
By Tarun Vijay

Date: 13.2.10

THE only line that makes or breaks the lifeline of your journey is the line that you would like to tell your son or daughter—‘go this way, and not the other way’.

What that line indicating the path you choose for yourself and for your children could be?

The line of compromises and the second track spineless dialogues on the body bags of our soldiers?

Or the line of uncompromising dedication to the motherland that guides to differentiate between a friend and a foe?

When the butchers were killing our sons guarding the frontiers at minus twenty degree centigrade, we were clamoring to play cricket with the killers and announcing as the third rate liars that the ancestors we feel proud about came from Pakistan.

The reader punctured the lie and told, hey the hero, your father came to India when India was just India the united one and Pakistan was not even created.

The article was taken off the blog immediately.

That’s the transparent objectivity of the seculars celebrating a festival of apartheid in the city of Ghulam rulers the Man Singhs. First they kowtowed before Akbar, against Rana Pratap, then they paid sovereigns to the British and now exclude the tribe of the un-yielding Marathas, unlike the sugar factory barons who became the Janpath courtiers.

Who are the soldiers and who are the cricketers? The cricketers are peace loving people from Mars and the soldiers are mercenaries from Bharat? The players love social harmony and their ancestors come from Pakistan, and soldiers are hard boiled violent hate group who hail from Dehradun and Aizawl? The Gaana-Bazaana tribe of Jaipur fest belongs to the harmony raga and the Siachin sentinels belong to Shylocks?

So if a graduate from Indian Military Academy is killed by the neighbour, the cricket with the neighbour must just go on in the name of a third party God of the seculars? We love peace, at any cost, even if our fellow citizens are raped and maimed and killed and forced to ‘marry’ their daughters at five thousand rupees a girl (Prerna Kaul tells it all).

The soldiers join the forces for the sake of money. The perks and perhaps izzat too. We join Bollywood and Cricket for the sake of world peace, and no commercial interests. Hence soldiers must be off listed and we be decorated with medals.

The one who may ask why no Bharat Ratna has been ever given to a soldier and even an entertainer with suspicious stories and a faith convertor were declared gems of the nation, must be declared a communal, a frustrated soul and a war mongeror. Soldiers live and die for money. Politicians live and die for the welfare of the people. ‘Hence Bharat Ratna must always go to the politician.

Good joke?

You may get off listed from Padma awards like Anant Pai has been off listed for the last seven years, that I know. The man who revolutionised the comic story scene in India, married the great revolutionary Congressman’s daughter from Sind, spent his life to spread all the goodness that India represents going from one Convent school to another Gandhi College, from Ladakh to Kanyakumari and Nagaland to Okha, never had a lobbyist in Delhi, hence the creator of the legendary Amar Chitra Katha never got a Padma award.

That’s Delhi, treacherous, backstabber and de-Indianised.

Hence the clamour to play cricket with Pakistan. Play cricket with those who have never condemned the gun totters who killed our brother soldiers and citizen fellows.

They never lamented or felt sorry having gobbled our two third Kashmir and creating an RDX ridden atmosphere forcing five lakhs of our blood brothers and sisters to leave their homes.

Play cricket, I love Pakistani. Give me another Padma award? They play cricket, appear in commercials, talk peace and embrace the killers of our soldiers, and become highest earning sportsmen. Have affairs with the most sensuous sirens of the Bollywood. They get fees even to visit Jawans on the border posts. It’s Bizniss my dear. Jawans, who fight for India, go to the spine chilling posts, die for the tricolour and get eight hundred rupees per annum pension.

Seventy rupees per month pension for a soldier who or whose widow gets a gallantry award from the supreme commander of the nation i.e. the President. That’s India. The land of the civilised and the patriot.

Go; see the Handbook of the Pay and Allowances-Gallantry Awards of the Indian Armed Forces. And a Param Vir Chakra winner would get a mere three thousand rupees per month ‘monetary allowance.’ A brave heart who gets mentioned in the dispatches would earn fifty rupees per annum from a state, as was in vogue till recently.

Pray what’s the difference between the mother of a SRK, a PC or a Vikram Batra? Or a Hari Ram, nayak subedar or a Abdul Rahman, the signal man?

Those standing with Batra’s mother won’t say IPL should be condemned for not buying Pakistanis, but others have no problem shedding tears watching Pakistanis were out.

Congress-led Government is too pusillanimous to uphold the rule of law and fulfil its constitutional obligation.

christian Forum to protect Christian schools

“Christians to form forum for protection of schools’, was a news item in the print media. This is an ill conceived move for the following reasons:-It shows that the governments at the Centre and the respective States have failed and are utterly incapable of protecting educational institutions. It gives the impression that Christian schools need protection because they are under attack. This is not true.
It can be a precedent which will prod managements of other schools to embark on a similar move-the result will be opposing armies of lay people with the sole intention of opposing and not of protecting. Lines based on religious communities will be drawn.
It creates distrust and disharmony
Now some in-home affairs: Will the forum be responsible if other schools are attacked and the blame is placed at their door?
The NCCI (National Council of churches in India) is a conglomeration of mainly Evangelical churches-these have been in the forefront fanning discord and enmity. What is happening in Haiti should be an eye opener for the Catholic Church. There Catholics are being persecuted by the Protestant churches as devil worshippers. In India too there is not much love lost between the Pentecostal churches and the Catholic Church-the former are accused of poaching and the later even preaching on Sundays to be wary of the Pentecostal churches and its propaganda.
Will the Catholic Church be responsible if the Protestant churches attack other places of worship and the schools run by private bodies and the Hindus? If the hindu ashrams are attacked-pamphlets derogatory of Hindu gods and goddesses are distributed near temples and other public places. A Forum of protection for the Christians schools cannot be a closed ended one-it must also be accountable for the anti-hindu propaganda unleased by the Pentecostal churches.
It is a well known fact that the Pentecostal churches are mushrooming and every other pastor claims to a bishop (self appointed). There is no accountability of word(preaching)or deed-activities, because each one is a law by himself. The UPA government when it comes to Minorities is wary of taking any action because of its vote bank politics of appeasement.
Organizationally the Catholic institutions are well knit. There are two sets of Catholic schools: one- diocesan schools which are run by the local bishop and the other set run by religious congregations. These come under their respective congregation heads-Provincials. But still they also are aligned with the diocesan educational body under the Bishop. Each diocese has its own association for Education headed/supervised by the local bishop. The religious congregation like Jesuits, Salesians, Patrick Brothers, Sacred Heart Brothers, the Franciscan Missionaries of Mary, Jesus Mary , Presentation, Sisters of the Immaculate Conception of Mary,Cluny sisters of St Josephs, Carmelites(of different hues and shades)Bon Scours, St Anne’s,Holy Cross, Servities,et al. These are just a handful in the long list of religious congregations which run education institutions. They are well knit at the diocesan ,regional and State levels reaching out to the international level. The Protestant churches run schools and the Evangelical church administered schools do not have such a well oiled and well structured organization. These are headed by their respective church leaders and are as numerous as the number of schools! They see the strength of the Catholic organization-both structurally and leadership wise at the different levels and want to hang on to it to get the strength and benefit from such an organizational set-up. They should not be allowed to piggy-rid on the Catholic leadership. Because the later will be dragged down with the leaden like burden of the Pentecostal/protestant run schools.
When one mentions Christian schools does it mean schools run by churches and or Christian individuals and comprising of both catholic and other churches? A forum based on this will be a problem and not a solution.
There are distinct features which separate the protestant schools and the Catholic schools-to cite an example: catholic schools by and large do not force children of other faiths to read the bible or to compulsorily attend catholic rites. But the Protestant and Evangelical churches do. A telling example was published a year ago when a boy from Bishop Cotton school B’lore was forced to study the bible.I have had students in the post graduate level who did narrate how in the Evangelical schools they studied were forced to attend the bible/scripture classes. The catholic schools where such things happen are exceptions and not the rule as far as I am aware. But the opposite is the case for Evangelical church run schools.
What happened in Orissa, Kandhammal could be repeated because the Evangelical churches enter into areas with a crusading fervor and think that their actions through education /social work and welfare activities all need to end in conversion. This will trigger problems-Will the Catholic schools stand for this? Will they through the forum protect such schools which mean abetting proselytization and increasing the numbers in their churches which I am sure the Catholics do not approve of?
The Protestant/Evangelical run schools must stand on their own Numbers are not strength. Truth was and is a lone voice in the wilderness.
Are the Christians so naïve as to think that their schools are being attack. Does one sparrow make a summer? There are more than 5000 schools the news item states-this is gross under estimation. It could easily be double that number. How many schools have been attacked? I wish the community of Christians become more open and form forums to protect the citizens living in and around their churches and schools.
All are children of God-so we were taught But when it comes to practice the churches become closed and self centered. To substantiate this I would like to cite the example of the Archbishop of Orissa –Rev Rafael Cheenath complaining that the Centre and the State governments have not kept their promise regarding the Christians affected by the riots. This was an unchristian utterance. I wished he had simply made a plea in the name of all those affected in the riots and not only the Christians. His stand was anti Jesus and the bishop betrayed his own closed mentality and totally unchristian attitude. There is no special heaven for Christians and there are no special ghettos on earth where the Christians can be flocked and penned in and safeguarded. The sooner one realizes this the better. Be it terror attacks, natural disasters like floods, earthquakes differentiation drops, lines are washed away and ghettos crumble. Suffering is not partial and knows no religious discrimination. There is no majority/minority line drawn.
This idea of a Forum to protect the Christian schools not only sounds illogical but also is an affront to Christian values of openness, all embracing, and goes against the very grain of unity and harmony.
May be there the churches see this as another channel for fund to pour in-may be global attention can be attracted-may be some busy bodies need to be kept engaged…whatever be the reason a little bit of patriotism and openness will go a long way in clarity and in realizing the setting up of a Forum to be abandoned. On the other hand citizens’ forums can be formed irrespective of religion caste and community to safeguard community (not the narrow sense of community) but people’s assets.
There are enough of divisive forces, divisions and barriers, which need to be pulled down and leveled. Instead the creation of open forums at all levels, comprising of all right thinking persons to protect people’s properties, buildings, children, and belongings, must be thought of and concretized-that is the sum total of Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam(AMDG)

Make tryst with destiny a reality

There is too much heat and no light in the sparing between the Thackerays.and Rahul Gandhi . One need to objectively and dispassionately look into the issue. Among many things what is the need of Rahul Gandhi to be strutting around the country and that in University campuses and meeting students? What is his message? To join politics certainly he is not promoting just awareness but building and shoring up the Congress cadres. No one will object if he addresses in public places and meets young and old or only the young for he believes in Youth Power. But to target students and to turn university campus into campaign grounds must be objected. Will the same be extended to all the other political parties? Can the party secretaries go into university campuses and campaign? It is better to leave students alone unlike RG they need to work hard and pass their exams-need to hunt for a job and need peace and tranquility. Not arouse enmity, instigate violence between parties within the campuses. Will State governments extend the same kind of security for other political party secretaries when they go for canvassing/campaigning for their respective parties?
Having stated this- next query why should RG visit Mumbai when it is already simmering-what is the urgency? Because he has all the security and does not care if violence breaks out-if the ordinary people daily routine is affected. RG being RG has absolutely no qualms in doing what he wants to do.
Now coming to the Mumbai migrant issue- Any sensible person will see that the Thackerays are not for building a wall round Mumbai and enclosing it. Even our borders between Bangla Desh and Pakistan are porous. The fact remains that there should be some kind of restriction otherwise dual fallout will result. Mumbai will become a festering city-it is bursting at the seams.Migrants settle anywhere and everywhere-resulting in an unplanned spread of slums. The physically and environmental hazards multiple. During the monsoons the floods and heavy damage is due to the clogging of the gutters, unplanned and/ or nil drainage system- etc.
This apart if the PM can state that the Muslims have the first share to development then why not the Thackerays state that the Maharastrians have the first claim to all the development programs. At least they based the criterion on region and not on religion. Be it language or rights migrants cannot displace Maharastrians, and not make them lose their means of livelihood in their State. In the case of language it is not that no one should learn other languages but certainly not at the cost of one’s mother tongue. Any one can pick up any language but to push the mother tongue to a secondary status will cost heavily in terms of learning, values, regional pride and belongingness.
All this may sound sectarian but a deeper study will prove that one can relate first to the immediate and in concentric circles this belongingness will connect to the larger country. To simply state that all are Indians and India belongs to all-is easily said but psychologically not possible to relate to the country over jumping regional identity and one’s roots. One must be well rooted to spread out.Take the example of the DMK-a party which was initiated only on sons of soil theory. It was only on this plank that it captured the imagination of the people and instilled in them a sense of pride for Tamil and all that was Tamil. Once it expanded its base then it tried to be magnanimous and parties were vying with each other to ally with it. Did the media write (as it has today in reference to the Senas) to isolate the DMK? In spite of all the sectarianism-language bigotry, anti-north and anti-Brahmanism the DMK was sought after and today is the closet ally of the Congress. Mrs Sonia Gandhi even put behind the Jain Commission Report findings-the shouting brigade stands before it in humble submission. The DMK calls the shots and Mrs Sonia Gandhi obliges-example A.Raja –cabinet minister of Information Technology and another cabinet minister does not know Hindi nor can he communicate in English. It is Tamil all the way! Why had the Congress not distanced itself from this party? It all depends on votes and allies to keep the Congress in the power seat. That is the sum total of be Indian and buy Indian! Another case which is worth mentioning in this context is Telangana. Who is the author of this problem and why?
Rahul Gandhi stated that anyone can go anywhere in India seeking employment. Again RG without the minimum experience talks. Has he hunted for a job? Does he have an iota of what it is to hunt for a job then he will know what the requirements are. First one needs potential. The poor unskilled labourers go from place to place working in construction, road laying, felling of trees, stone cutting etc. What happens to the local unskilled labour force? This is exactly why the Thackerays are targeting Biharis and UP ites. When there is job near at home and in the home state do we expect the Maharastrians unskilled workers to migrate and seek work else where? Is that practical and just?
There was a media write- up bringing to centre stage the undeniable fact that it is the Constitution that safeguards the rights of the citizens. There can be no second opinion on this. But does the Constitution automatically safeguard the rights of its citizens? Case after case can be cited where the Constitution has failed to safeguard the rights of its citizens for the simple fact that the Constitution does not operate automatically. One needs to approach the judiciary to come to the upholding of the rights of the citizens and here one needs money power. The best exponent of the Constitution can even argue so well and nullify the rights upheld by the Constitution. Can the ordinary citizens seek redress? Does not that call for economic potential? The right to work and live in any part of the country is guaranteed by the Constitution is only theoretically correct. In practice it is not so. Why are the roadside sleepers where they are? Can they not sleep in their homes, under a roof or even in open space else where? Can I buy a bungalow in Luytens? Can I buy land and seek employment in J&K?Equal rights for all again is only in print but have all equal rights as citizens? Why security only for the high and the mighty what about other common people. Is this equality in operation?Rathore the infamous cop violated all the rights of Ruchika and her family. What happened to the rights enshrined in the Constitution?Cops paid by the taxpayers money harassed and the dignity of the person violated–where was this Constitutional right. When those who are suppose to protect and safeguard common citizens indulge in dehumanizing the victims what good is there in citing the Constitution. Constitutional rights are violated with immunity-laws and regulations are swept away with immunity by the politically powerful and yet the politically powerful cites Constitution is there to safeguard the rights of the citizen.
Regionalism, parochialism, casteism and religious communalism have been all injected into the polity at different levels on different stages and through different methods to suit the vote bank politics of the Congress. Now to pretend that the Senas need to be isolated because of its sectarianism is like the pot calling the kettle black. The Congress has to do some introspection –it had never stood by any principles. Who is Narayana Rana after speaking and propagating for 35 years the doctrine of sons of soil theory he is with the Congress. Anyone who can bring votes and change over to the Congress the party will welcome.Lalu Yadav,Mayavathi are all communal to the core but the Congress has no qualms in allying with them or seeking their support. This because the Congress is communal to the core-its whole edifice is built brick by brick on communalism.
An important premise of the whole Sena sparing with Shah Rukh Khan must be also commented on. First why had the latter not betted on the Pakistani players for the IPL? The Khans have gone one step further in citing that anyone good must be taken-does that apply to only cricket or can be extended to other areas? If so then we could recruit expertise for the army, governance, judiciary et al. It is not the question of the best it is the question of Indians playing for India-it is the question of patriotism and national pride it is not the question of the best. It is the question of giving opportunities to what is second best may be….It is the duty of all the media, the Judiciary, the Executive and the Legislature to make the rights enshrined in the Constitution valid and automatically flow to the citizens. Instead of some citizens automatically falling below the Poverty Line-all citizens should automatically enjoy the Rights enshrined in the Constitution without any hinderance-towards this the political parties must rise above petty politics, vote bank politics, appeasement policies and work for creating a harmonious environment to made the tryst with destiny a reality
