We will take corruption head on

December 21, 2010 at 7:16 am 19 comments

Sonia’s “we will take corruption head on”sounds brave. It brought to my mind my little granddaughter while playing with her dolls would turn the heads of a few backwards. I hope SG’s head can be turned backwards to face herself from behind and the party lined up behind her .Then this ‘head on business’ will show her as the first casualty for denigrating every constitutional post and foisting herself as an extra constitutional power., undermining the PM’s post and actions, and constituting her own Parliament called the NAC. The Congress is corruption and corruption is Congress-the twain can never be parted.
Not to be left behind P.Chidambaram wants us to close our eyes and attune our antennae to the audio sounds emanating from Rahul Gandhi-he tells us that we can hear Rajiv Gandhi’s voice.Granted it is true-so what is the big deal? Rajiv Gandhi was taking the Congress not to the 21st century but down slide –his death came in handy for the Congress fortunes to be revived and the States which went to the polls after his assassination won on sympathy vote-not on the 21st century vision.. To continue PC’s closed eyes listening ‘Millions are not connected to our economic system not because they do not want to but have no opportunity to.Why is the per capita income so low at the bottom 20 percent of India”. We need to imagine a lot of things. One, to whom is he addressing to close the eyes? The PM seems always to have both his eyes and ears closed hence he needs to be charged for his silence and inaction. To whom is PC asking why the bottom of the 20 percent population of India’s income is so low-That must be attributed to the economist Prime Minister of ours and the Congress party It needs to be addressed by the Finance Minister who keeps asking us to live in hope-that the prices of essential commodities will come down. Can PC tell us why onions are being sold today for more than Rs 80 per kilo? Then the séance continues – he has put everyone on the couch and is performing a psycho analysis-start imaging he tells us with eyes closed and ears opened. ‘Imagine we heeded the call of Rahul Gandhi..imagine every child in school vaccinated and inoculated, imagine leaving school with skills..imagine everyone out of the college with a job” Then the analyst is suddenly pushed off his feet by the awakened tranced people and confronted with the question why have you failed to achieve all this? You think you can take us always on an imaginary trip- -Yes why did you not achieve this-why have you kept us in a trance and why the hell are you the Home Minister and why is the Congress in power which failed to achieve all this.-Damn it and be off. PC winds up his séance by predicting that the Opposition turn will not come for the next ten years- because they have still to wind up the hustle and the bustle of corruption activities and gather what remains. PC thinks he is smart –he who lost the last election by the whisker -thanks to an ever understanding EC and the ever honest MKarunanidhi who did what had to be done –so that in the third round of recounts he won by a few hundreds of votes. Shame on PC, he is making sure that his position will be safeguarded and hence this close eyes and open ears like open sesame and shut sesame. Only he will get shut within his own guilty conscience. His open ears had not heeded the wails and cries of those gunned down by the Islamic terrorists-his closed eyes see only ‘saffron ‘ for he is color blind and his great task of fulfilling the vision of Rahul Gandhi is limited to the exchanging of dossiers with Pakistan. which is having the last laugh. Remember the WilkiLeaks referring to PC as demanding the interview with Headley for saving his face.
The grand finale of the whole theatrics of the drama enacted by the Congress and staged at Burari was good entertainment. For a moment one thought it was the BJP’s when we closed our eyes and opened our ears it sound like the BJP’s voices against corruption. Then when we got out of the trance and opened our eyes it was all Congress faces-faces of the corrupt and the leaders of the corrupt. The puppeteer had a break and the Puppet of the PM spoke. He invoked Caesar’s wife to be above suspicion. It was more a soliloquy. He has nothing to hide and is magnanimous to offer to be enquired by the Public Accounts Committee. The PM must know very well that the PAC has no powers to probe into a wide spectrum of the 2G spectrum except look into the accounts. So why should he offer to be probed by a PAC which is not empowered to probe him or the other aspects in which he is involved? If the PM is innocent as he wants us to believe then he should bravely declare that the JPC can be constituted and he is prepared to appear before it. The fact that the Congress is shying from the JPC itself reveals that it has and the PM has something to hide. What is the use of a fig leave to cover up? Finally the PM’s assertion that he did no wrong must be proved by the probing machinery. He cannot give himself a clean chit. Even a child in India will know that the PM’s silence-his appointed of Adhimuthu Raja as the Minister for TelCom –the PM’s silence for three years-his refusal to sack the minister are the areas where he failed to perform his constitutional duties and when he failed to uphold the oath he had taken when he took over office.
Mr Manmohan Singh must also be answerable why he appointed PJ Thomas as the Chief Vigilant Commissioner. Does all this prove that like Caesar’s wife he is above suspicion? Come on Mr Prime Minister, and prove those brave words by asserting that you will face any probe by any constitutionally constituted mechanism and which is the best-the Joint Parliamentary Committee which comprises the elected representatives of the people. That is democracy. That the JPC is useless and that it will not lead to anything and that it is unnecessary etc are vague excuses-then why earlier were there JPCs? Let the useless JPC become useful this time, and if it does not, all the more better for the Congress for the PM will be proved to be like Caesar’s wife-above all suspicion.

It is neither Dr Manmohan Singh or the UPA chairperson to decide about the forum where the Head of the Executive is supposed to be answerable,in any case of suspicion or case alleged to have taken place. They can’t be choosy as foolishly addressing their own men. They are accountable to the whole nation, which constitutes many citizens, partymen or otherwise, educated or uneducated, favourable or unfavorable to this government. It is the whole opposition which has been demanding Joint Parliamentary Committee, consisting the Minisiter’s party ,DMK.The Justice Sarkaria Commission indicted Corruption King M Karunanidhi, has also to answer for his pointsman A Raja,in 2G Spectrum scandalous deals..

You are right Balasundar. It is not correct-politically and legally that those alleged to be accused decide the forum which should quizz them. The JPC is constituted of MPs-they are people’s representatives and have the jusidiction tio summon anyone and look into all the all aspect of G2 sprecturm. On the other hand the PAC has restricted areas under its scrutiny. The majority are Congress-it may be headed by a BJP-Murli Manohar Joshi but the majority view will prevail and mostly will look into accounts. It is sheer adamancy that the Congress is not yielding to a JPC-IT SHOWS THAT IT HAS SOMETHING TO HIDE AND CANNOT FACE THE JPC .Its guilt has already been proved.

Dear Thirumaran-the JPC can be used when demanded by the Parliamentarians.70 percent of the MPs are demanding a JPC and yet the Congress is nto yeilding. Two thigns are clear -the Congress is afraid of the JPC because it alone has the powers to summon any minister and even the PM-apart from MPs but the PAC does not have such powers.Demanding the JPC is constitutionaly and am wondering why the Conmgress is not yeilding. What you guess is correct-Sonia Gandhi can be called to be quizzed abd she is not prepared for that. Most of the monery has gone to her and her two sisters hence she is not ready to face the JPC.The PM may not have anythibng to hide oersonally but he hid thepersons involved and he is adamant because he is hiding Mrs Sonia Gandhi.Tghis is the real reason for the Congress not wanting the JPC.Another constitutional norm is the ruling party-here the UPA 2 must see that Parliament functions and towards that what is needed must be done. This also the Congress is not willingly. The Congress has only 123 MPs it is a minority government-the other allies are not opposing the JPC-so what legality and constitutioonal right has the Congress to oppose the JPC.If it states that the JPC will be useless then why was the JPC constituted at all-why had they put up a uselless mechanism?Let it be useless-all the mroe good for the Congress so ti should allow the JPC.The UPA in power cannot obstryuct the functioning of the Parliament by opposing the JPC-It adamantacy reveals that it has something to hide. The Congress is afraid of the JPC.Thank yuo for your response.

Dear Vikram of the 3 major JPCs which were held two were related to institutional changes in the stock market. They made recommendations on which there has benn a foolow up.The criminality in those two -of Harshad Metha and Ketan Parekh was left to the CBI to determine. And one knows who holds the CBI’s strings. The third one was in 1988 on Bofors and with the Congress and its brutal majority it rigged the whole theing -the Opposition was not a party to the JPC.It said that the Bofors kickbacks were winding charges etc the whole thing was fabricated by the Congress. This cannot be made a case not to have the JPC.The G2 Spectrum is the right case for a JPC because it has a wide range of issues to be looked into-policy,structure,allocation,appointment,working of the ministry and so on.This is why the Opposition is firm on JPC.The PAC cannot look into policy and working of the ministry and appointment etc.Heavens will not fall if Parliament does not function. In fact what is the use iof Parliament just debating-and why is the Congress not yielding to a JPC.Is it not the reponsibility of the UPA to see that Parliament functions and hence it is obligated do everything within its power towards that. Then it should yield to a JPC and allow democracy to function. But not yielding to the JPC and blaming the BJP for stalling the parliament and killing democracy is another fraud of the Congress. It is fighting shy of facing the JPC because it has more than something to hide.It is shielding Mrs Sonia and her sisters and A.Raja
Thank you for your repsonse. All tghe best to you Vikram for the year 2011

It is nice of PC to be loyal to his old friend Rajiv Gandhi and be nostalgic when he hears Rahul’s voice. But it is unforgivable that his attachment to an old friend should stand in the way of his being true and loyal to the country and also makes him a party to the misdeeds of Sonia. Brutus did not love Ceasar any less, but he loved Rome more.

eT TU bRUTE-PC has no loyalty or love lost for his friend Rajivi Gandhi-he wanted to sing a solo of sychophancy song-just to be in the good books of Rahul and Sionia.Mind you when when RG mentioned fo good ministers he did not mention PC and Pranab Mukherjee.PC is a big bluff if you ask my sincere opinion. He has the gift of the gap but does not really care for the country and less for the poor Indians.
He ably puts on an act.

    Dear Professor,

Advance greetings on a fantastic Christmas!

First off I am a regular reader of your posts and I must submit myself as one of your fans if I may.

Now, as to the above piece in itself, I’ve got a couple of queries to Mainish Tiwari, PC, Mrs Gandhi, and the Prime Minister.

Their contention is the PAC is a constiutional body of the Parliament. Yes agreed. So is JPC, which I believe they would not deny.

I would like to know from the folks mentioned above :

    1. For what reasons and under what situation is a PAC consitutued.
    2. The remit – unique remit of PAC.
    3. For what reasons and under what situation is a JPC consitutued.
    4. The remit – unique remit of JPC.

Now, if the PM is so magnamimous to submit himself to the PAC, is it because the Congress had a majority to manipulate it?

There is no gainsaying that it is headed by a BJP stalwart.

Is it the Cong wants to dither on the JPC, because they firmly would not have the majority to manipulate?

As to Kapil Sibal’s remarks that the sole duty or right of the opposition is they can pull down the govt by numbers :

An elected MP is an elected MP. Whether the person is a one person party or a “National Big Party” the position is same. Respect the will of the populace.

Now the situation is the Congress is saying, they want a vote on the floor to decide if the majority subscribe to JPC.

This is incorrect and there is a precedence.

During the height of the Bofors scam, a JPC was formed – remember then Saint Rajiv had garangutan majority in Lok Sabha, still constituted the JPC. So the point that to consitute a JPC, it requires a majority vote is incorrect.

As to Rahul Gandhi’s utterance on Hindu terror threat:

I respect Rahul being an elected MP and would take his words very seriously. I have got questions for him.

Being a serious elected MP, how does he conclude about the comparative threats?

What are his sources and how did he evaluate?

What was the unique purpose of discussing this with the American envoy?

Did he convey this to the HomeMinister and to the PM?

Was he not aware of the official postion of the Govt on LET, Pakistan on 26/11?

Does he not realise his statment would dilute the position?

    Thank you.

It is heartening to be appreciated for honesty! That is the one value which is running scarce in the buisness of life.Honesty is my legacy and hertiage-I tell my children and grandchildren the same that their inheritance is honesty and right living. We come with nothign and we go with nothing except Dharma-and that should triumph.
Thank you and all my fervent prayers for you and your loved ones

Ma’am, this article gives us the real story that was hidden by our Press. It seems that Rahul Gandhi calling Hindu Terrorist are a Threat to India is actually a diversionary tactic,so that we the people don’t notice the real elephant in the room.It is so Shocking.
Thanks for all your amazing posts ma’am, In the Media ,we are really starved of honest comment on the state of affairs. Wonder what happened to them in their school years. Did they learn Right from Wrong?Makes you wonder.
Coming to PC’s statement[with a very irreverent and naughty take] that Rahul sounds just like Rajeev,at least Sonia will be relieved, and other Congress leaders can put one speculation to rest . Even my daughter sounds like me;so what? It only proves that PC is the BIGGEST SYCOPHANT in Congress. As though that would solve all the problems in the country;Actually it is scary these oeople who claim to be Harvard educated, and clever, and Lawyer to boot,is so unprofessional. What kind of dumbos do we elect to the parliament!

thank you Sita-it is not where you are educated that matters-itis the basic character that matters.Chidambaram wanted to sing a solo for SG and hence he went to the extreme.I am going to comment on another of his stupid statements that she should review the performance of the GOI every six months.Thats beats it all.I wish persons like you enter politics. You have clear ideas but what you have that makes all the difference is honesty and integrity.PC and the likes of him do not have this and I do not think Harvard instilled these in him.Great Sita-keep up the responses and the tempo of your awareness.
All the best for the year 2011-maam

Ihad also included the schooling/education/upbringing that people in the bureaucracy and Media would have had for them to be so patently hypocritical and Holier-than-thou attitude towards Hinduism and Hindus. What is their moral compass,if they keep on hiding the faults of Sonia/Rahul/congress Politicians.Politicians is a known case they would not know about morals or integrity even if they were shown a dictionary entry;but these so called Guardians of Democracy and Freedom of Expression!? Like Rajdeep Sardesai ,Vir Singhvi,or Barkha dutt.
I had mentioned earlier I had been to our School Reunion. One of our Seniors[couple of years only,so she knew us too] is now a minister in the DMK govt.and recently I came to know that she is close to Kanimozhi and that she had spoken to Radia as a go-between. This news made me feel sick. Our school had certainly taught us to hold Honesty and service to India as sacrosanct, and beyond Religious Identity,we are Indians First. I am wondering what happened to those teachings and Learning, when one becomes an adult. We are going wrong somewhere between theorising and the Practice of Righteous-ness.[Call it Morality or Dharma] It is truly a sad day for India, when the media is not willing to call a spade a Spade.

it’s sickening what is happening in India. the fact that our people remain blind and turn the other way, is the bane of our society.
unless attitudinal change, a change in mind sets occurs, i truly feel this scenario will remain the same. god help us india and indians
